Oppose
the Game Amendment Bill 2009
In June 2009
the NSW Government confirmed
that it will not support the Game Bill. The vote on the Bill was
dealy while Parliament went into recess until 1 September 2009.
See the latest NPA media release: Premier
must kill off Shooters Party Bill say environment and animal welfare
groups. However there is strong pressure for the Government
to support the Bill again when it is finally voted on.
The Game
and Feral Animal Control Amendment Bill 2009 by the Shooters
Party would see nature exploited by private commercial facilities
in national parks and wildlife shot as 'game' for blood sport. The
Government is considering supproting it and it has not asked the
community if they want hunting or commercial development in national
parks. The legislation
will:
- allow recreational hunting in national parks
- allow recreational hunting of native animals
- establish private game reserves
- undermine of feral animal control efforts across
NSW.
We have to tell them national parks are for nature,
loud and clear. Join us, together we can protect our precious national
parks for nature and our kids.

While the NSW Government is wavering over the Shooters
Partys plans for hunting in national parks, less well known,
but just as worrying, are plans for private commercial developments
in national parks. Green tape must not be cut to facilitate
development in our national parks.
Dont let National Parks be ruined by political
deals or fast buck schemes.

Already over 1,000 people have supported our campaign
to lobby the NSW Government via emails to Ministers, the Opposition,
the Greens and Fred Nile. See the responses
so far. Thanks to these efforts, the Government reconsidered
its position and now opposes the Game Bill.
Take
Action:
1. Attend a public meeting (listed above).
2. Write, phone, email or fax directly all NSW
Cabinet Ministers. Let them know that you oppose the
Game
and Feral Animal Control Amendment Bill 2009
3. Write, phone, email or fax directly Fred
Nile MLC, whose vote may be the only one that may stop the Bill.
4. Let your friends know about this issue and get
them to act - but quickly!
