Community Biodiversity
Survey Project Background
Through
funding from the Environmental Education Grants Program of the Environmental
Trust, NPA is coordinating the Community Biodiversity Survey (CBS)
Project. 
Project
aims:
- To facilitate
and support the community to conduct biodiversity surveys of the
terrestrial and marine environments.
- Enhance community
understanding of and involvement in biodiversity conservation
and regional land management processes through experiential learning.
- Support and
encourage potential advocates for community biodiversity surveys
throughout the community.
- Raise the
profile of community biodiversity surveys and existing community
biodiversity survey manuals.
- Improve networks
and partnerships between the general community and landholders,
local government, industry, relevant state government agencies
, educational institutes, Landcare groups, Catchment Management
Authorities, and others involved in land management and biodiversity
conservation.
- Improve the
quality and extent of biodiversity information for NSW terrestrial
and marine environments.
- Stimulate
the broader interest of the community in undertaking their own
biodiversity surveys.
- Improve environmental
quality through survey, identification of areas of high conservation
value, increase awareness and potentially greater protection.
