Wedderburn Causeway

Wedderburn children playing at the Bridge Reserve in 1964. Once a popular picnic area for local residents, now an eyesore. We were very pleased to hear that State Government has promised to help reinstate a bridge across the river by donating $800,000, and we sincerely hope that Council will act quickly to restore the natural flow by removing the causeway, hastily installed in 1986 when the original bridge footings were considered by some to be dangerous.

We noted that on a recent walk from Wedderburn to The Woolwash the river appeared to be in fairly good condition once we were well downstream from the causeway, at the time of the walk Illawarra Coal were releasing 2.5 mega litres of water through Brennens Creek Dam.
